JOB REPORTS TO: General Manager
JOB PURPOSE:
As part the local management team to lead all aspects of the supply chain from supplier development right through to order entry/customer service, to planning and scheduling, inventory control, despatch and distribution.
Maximise profitability and 100% customer satisfaction whilst maintaining optimum production efficiencies through the delivery of all materials for the production process.
Ensure that forecasts are managed, processed and planned into production and delivered on time in full.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
– Lead a team comprising of Customer Service, Planning and Control and Despatch to:
– ensure the Daily Production Plan is processed on a timely and accurate basis and that
production is planned to meet customer requirements in the most cost effective manner
– ensure that the finished goods stock and production information are accurately updated and maintained
– ensure that customer delivery schedules and specific requirements are achieved
– determine the optimum stock levels for both finished goods and input materials to ensure that sufficient raw materials, packaging and finished goods stocks are available to meet customer orders in line with company optimum stock levels
– organise the purchasing and supply of all bought-in products to suit customer requirements and optimum stock levels
– identify and approve outside warehousing and haulage services to ensure that customer orders are stored and delivered efficiently and effectively within agreed budgets
– manage the contracted haulage services to ensure that customer orders are delivered on time and in a safe, secure and orderly manner and that all paperwork is maintained accurately
– manage the contracted warehousing services to ensure that the finished goods are handled and stored in a safe and secure manner and that stock records are maintained accurately
– update the customer on orders / products
– develop a good working relationship with all customers and suppliers
– Take ownership on lean initiatives and continuous improvement
– assess new suppliers and work with existing suppliers to improve service levels focusing on minimising stock held and price
– liaise with operations management and sales personnel to ensure they are fully informed of all relevant information regarding customers and operations
– ensure customer service team optimise efficiency and flexibility to ensure current and future business needs are met
– control resource expenditure for labour, direct expense and consumables within the approved budget and provide early indications of any potential variances in order to assist the overall unit’s forecasting
– to ensure the preparation of budgets in relation to staffing, raw materials and packaging and warehousing and transport
– aid NPI process
– remove waste from admin and operational processes
– motivate and coach team to establish high performance, focus on customer service and develop a continuous improvement culture
QUALIFICATONS:
– Educational and Professional:
– Bachelor degree or above
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE
– Previous leadership experience in a supply chain role with specific demand
management/production planning exposure in a distribution/high volume manufacturing environment
– Demonstrable interpersonal and communications skills
– Excellent planning and organisational skills
– Demonstrable experience of creating/implementing a logistics strategy and dealing directly with transport and warehousing companies
– Possess good knowledge of budgeting and planning
– MS Office – Excel
– Strong stakeholder and supplier management experience
– Good track record of continuous improvement
– Excellent people manager, open to direction, collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done
